Alternate Ways of Learning: A Study of Museum Educational Programs of UK Museums for School Children
Associate Professor, Department of Museology, Faculty of Fine Arts, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, Gujarat.
The award was received by me when I was working as Curator-Assistant Professor at Department of Archaeology and Ancient History. It was an excellent exposure to me to interact with museum professionals in UK especially museum educators at V&A, British Museum, Museum of London, Kensington Palace, Horniman, Courtlaud, Museum of Childhood, North Hancock Museum, Durham University museum, Discovery Museum, Beamish Museum etc. so as to enrich my practical knowledge on museum education and extension. I have used some data generated through the fellowship for presenting a paper during the ICOM conference in New Delhi in February 2014. I am aiming few publication based on the data generated through this fellowship program in near future.
The educational sessions which I have participated in the various museums were essentially effective for me in shaping and in designing curriculum based educational programs for the department museum. Exposure through this award truly benefited in my current profile as Associate Professor in museum studies department for teaching the post graduate course work on museum education and extension activities. The interaction with faculties at the International Centre for Cultural Heritage Studies, New Castle University was highly productive and I am looking forward to have more academic interaction and research projects with them.
